Musicians & Mindfulness Day

Join the Savannah Area Flute Association for a one day festival on Musicians & Mindfulness with guest artist, Andrée Martin.

  • District band workshop for flutists (1:00)

For school-aged flutists to prepare for their upcoming district band auditions.  Get tips on how to take the audition and help with scales, etudes, and sightreading.

  • Flute choir reading session (2:00)
Grab your flutes and play through some fun flute choir music! Test your sightreading and enjoy some music with your fellow flutists!
  • Body Mapping for the Arms and Hands (2:45)
Find freedom through alignment using Body Mapping principles! Whether you spend your day practicing an instrument, working at a computer, driving, writing, or even baking, this workshop will identify alignment habits and help to find more ease and freedom in the arms and hands.
For all, not just flutists and other musicians!
 
  • Mindfulness Meditation for Musicians (3:30)
This workshop will introduce participants to the Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) curriculum through formal and informal meditation practices including seated and walking meditation, as well as mindful communication and listening practices. For beginner and experienced practitioners. Bring your instruments!
For all musicians, not just flutists!
 
  • Masterclass for musicians (4:30)
A masterclass for all levels and all musicians, Andrée’s pedagogy integrates her training in Mindfulness and Body Mapping by focusing on balance and breathing as well as efficient, coordinated, and healthy movement.

  • Exhibits (5:30)
Check out exhibits from local music stores and repair technicians!
 
  • Flute choir concert (6:00)
The Savannah Area Flute Association’s flute choir will present their fall concert on the theme of “Unity and Universal Oneness.”
 

Free but donations to support student scholarships greatly appreciated.

Flute Donations

The Savannah Area Flute Association has a program to help students in need wanting to play the flute get an instrument.  If you have an old student instrument that you no longer play or need, please consider donating it to a worthy cause.  While a working instrument is preferred, flutes in all conditions would be greatly appreciated!  A letter for tax deduction can also be provided upon request.
